(Winter 2025-26) – We used ECCAN Greenlight Funding for workshops to engage pupils and their parents in the transition to low-carbon heating in 3 Edinburgh schools:
Niddrie Mill Primary School,
Prestonfield Primary School,
Gilmerton Primary School.
Summary of Outcomes
Overall, the project engaged 100–150 individuals and demonstrated the effectiveness of school-based, family-focused approaches to climate engagement.
The primary pupils showed high levels of enthusiasm and acted as key intermediaries, bringing discussions about heating and climate action into the home environment.
The project highlights the importance of trusted community settings and interactive methods in communicating complex topics such as heat decarbonisation, while also providing practical insights for scaling future engagement initiatives.
