Heat Network Development in Edinburgh- ECCI

(2023-05-31) Very successful event at the ECCI on Wednesday 31st of May 2023, organized by Clean Heat Forum Edinburgh. The 100 seats were booked in record time. Talented speakers explaining:
* National context (Drew Murphy)
* Update on Edinburgh’s plans (Kyle Drummond)
* Supporting mechanisms in place (Dr Paul Moseley)
* Previous attempts and lesson learnt (Janette Webb)
* Examples from existing projects in Aberdeen (Michael King), Midlothian (Eoghan Maguire) and Leeds PIPES (Steve Hunt)
and overall perspectives and actions (Sarah Boyack)
Key takeaway:
Successful projects require:
* Political leadership (with vision and long term commitment)
* Organisational capacity (development, operational, management, customer care)
* Being open (new ideas, new technologies, working with others, new ways of working)
and also:
* Keeping a good level of control can go along with a de-risked approach, if risks are well handled and understood.

What next?
* Build on the momentum
* Organize future events with a focus on specific questions to drill down
* Allow more time for discussions (always a huge frustration to skip questions from audience)
